Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Soldiers Table

From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a diverse cast of personalities, and a thrilling plot including divine entities, evil spirits, and sinister influences expanding in influence within the city.

Note: Key plot points for Episode 3 of this adventure follow below.

The Warrior Group Introduced

Episode 3 concluded with a major cliffhanger and presented the first table of heroes who will split off from the primary party to begin their separate journey, apart from the additional parties.

The combat-focused team features Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).

The Reason for Division

Given an extensive roster, it was clear from the outset that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.

This explains, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, connecting the characters’ stories before splitting into three distinct groups: Fighters, Strategists, and Explorers.

Characteristics of the Warrior Group

According to the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for players who prefer a classically intense battle-oriented gameplay experience where non-violent answers are rare.

At first glance, figures such as the reluctant priest the cleric might look out of place, but the events of the latest installment make it clear why these five characters are best suited for the combat party.

Why They Must Go

For one thing, the group understands precisely where to head next after a violent opening clash with the antagonists.

Casimir of Thjazi—whose passing kicked off the campaign’s events—used The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the rogue, and stealing all the magical artifacts to auction.

The traitor then settled his obligations and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, north of the urban center, with Cyd pursuing him.

Individual Reasons

Moreover, each adventurer has a individual motive to exit the metropolitan area:

  • Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, desires revenge.
  • Kattigan knows Timmony and warns that it is a nasty location.
  • Tyranny and Wicander, having defied his house’s orders to eliminate the target and instead freed him, have no other options.
  • However, their reputation as key figures in the powerful family could enable the team reach areas they usually can’t.
  • Furthermore, The grateful character vowed a eternal obligation to The savior for his rescue and will now accompany him anywhere.

Wanted and Hunted

Lastly, all of them are wanted by the rulers that rule the setting for a multiple motives, making lingering locally dangerous:

  • The rogue and The hero are known criminals.
  • The strong figure and Wicander defied House Halovar and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
  • Teor is targeted for elimination by the clan.

This leaves them no alternative but to journey toward Timmony in pursuit of the antagonist.

What’s Next?

From the latest episode’s Cooldown, we find out that the Soldiers table will be absent next week, leaving the other eight participants to round up the Explorers and Schemers tables.

Fans can expect discovering which players will be where in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, released on next week.
